Dr Austin Donnelly

Dr Austin Donnelly is one of Ireland’s most respected vets. He works alongside MD Gavin McCoubrey to support our family of Irish practices to provide the best possible care of patients and an excellent service for clients.

He has a wealth of experience in all areas of veterinary practice as a clinical director and an area manager in large veterinary organisations in both Ireland and Australia.

After graduating from UCD in 2009, he began his career at Avondale Veterinary Hospital in County Wicklow, which later became one of the first practices to join VetPartners Ireland.

During his four years at Avondale, Austin gained a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery.

He also gained great experience from seven years working in Australia and Tasmania, where he worked with everything from cats, dogs and horses to kangaroos, wombats and wallabies.

Tales of his globe-trotting are told in his book, Whiskers, Feathers & Fur: Veterinary Tales.

Austin returned to Ireland to become a manager of another large veterinary group, before joining VetPartners in August 2023.

He is passionate about the profession and its people. He has a Master of Business Administration and Management (MBA) from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, a Diploma in Leadership and Management and a Diploma in Human Resource Management. He is also a guest business stream lecturer at UCD Veterinary School.
